Such an enjoyable weekend

This weekend was so enjoyable. I got to study a bit, which I do enjoy doing. It's a chore, yes, but I enjoy doing it. If only I felt that way years ago, who know how dangerous I might be today. Could of , should of , would of.

The theme was mostly Saint Patrick's Day related, so it involved a whole lot of gluttony. To start with, the Italian had to introduce the concept of Catholic and Protestant Whiskey to the know it all employees of his local liquor emporium. That was good for a chuckle. The had a hard time understanding the concept of a separated Ireland or aware of the strife that has been going on there. That will teach them for interrupting me while I was looking for alternative whiskeys to Jameson & Bushmills.
I also learned that the Guinness Stout that I bought does not come from Dublin. It comes from Canada. I may be a bit clueless as far as this is concerned, but I also remember it being thicker that what I had on Saturday.
Two Saturday nights with Beer and Corned Beef and Cabbage. It seems that the mixture does not agree with me, I felt like I was going to become a seltzer bottle. The next time I think I will forgo the cabbage and see what turns up. That won't be anytime soon though.

Sunday oh Sunday. My wife and I started by going to mass with friends of ours and my bro/sis-in-law. Then off to breakfast with friends and niece. After breakfast, we sent on down to Prospect Park and saw the 36th annual Irish Parade. That was cool. I love Pipe & Drum music. On top of breakfast, I put one of Marty Markowitz's Green Bagels with coffee and waited for the festivities to begin.
After the parade, we whisked over to my brothers birthday party. Pizza was feh, my Godfather was there, and he brought over the St. Joseph's pastries (festivities switch) I was way too full to indulge in more than a quarter slice of sfogliatelle.

It was a packed weekend, and I feel stuffed still from it. I had a great time getting that stuffed. Unfortunately, the fun stops, and back to work for it is Monday. I will have to just savor the memory of a weekend well spent.

A prayer that I read on a blog today that I feel could apply to committing ourselves to prompt action for good and progress.

Largire nobis, quaesumus, Domine,
semper spiritum cogitandi quae recta sunt,
prompitus et agendi,
ut, qui sine te esse non possumus,
secundum te vivere valeamus.

Translates to:

We beg you, O Lord, bestow upon us
the spirit of thinking always things which are correct,
and of carrying them out promptly,
so that we who are not able to exist without You
may be able to live according to Your will.
